Why I prefer my asha over a diamond

#22
Hands down, the Asha is gorgeous and looks absolutely fabulous in that setting.

That being said, it's not a fair comparison. It's like taking a picture of a totalled Honda and a picture of a brand new Toyota and saying, "see, told you Toyotas are better." The diamond is obviously heavily included and I'd hazard to say not the best cut in the world either. Based on appearance alone you can see the money was thrown at carat as opposed to clarity. I'm not saying diamonds are better by any stretch of the imagination...just simply that I think it's *almost* an apples to orange comparison.

I would however love to see the Asha next to a better quality diamond.

I still would rather have an Asha or a moissy for a whole lot less, than 16 grand for that diamond.
Me too! Super happy with my Asha after 5 1/2 years of daily wear & tear!

Oh, I totally agree . . . and the next time we get a nice 2.5ct well cut good clarity diamond in the store, I'll take more pics.

Asha...hands down. Your set is amazing too!!! Gorgeous!!!

Pretty soon I will have my own Leon Mege e-ring. I'd much rather spend $5k on a gorgeous, unique hand-made setting than a fortune on the center stone. In my opinion it is the beauty of the setting that makes a stone look believable - just like yours.

Your Asha looks sooooo sparkly! Beautiful!

What a stunning difference. The Asha has such clarity. Fabulous. I have been searching for a nice diamond pear ct for the new setting that I am having made. I am beginning to think that diamonds are a bunch of hype. Everyone has their schpill about why their diamonds are sooo much better than the next dealer. My husband has a co-worker from Africa that so that diamonds literally have no value there. The gentleman said that he does not understand why people across the world choose to pay so much for them.

For now anyway, I am going with a 2.0 ct pear Asha. Once I get the ring set with the stone next week. I will post pics. I cannot wait.

Did not mean to rant. But your comparison is unmistakably telling of the diamond hype. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you for posting that comparison photo. Your Asha leaves that diamond in the dust! The photo makes me even more excited to receive my very 1st Asha ring (ought to arrive in 2 wks). It will be my first synthetic- I've always bought diamonds in the past. I ordered ab 8.5mm round Asha solitaire in a gorgeous setting. When it arrives, I'll surely upload my own comparison photos. Hopefully, the result will be as dramatic as these ones!

I think this is the exact reason why Asha's are so great - A $16k diamond that looks like that or a $400ish (sorry don't know the price off the top of my head) Asha that looks a hundred times better.

The car analogy is funny though, would you pay 35k for a wrecked, awful Toyota or $2000 for a shiny, brand new Honda?

Of course, the Asha next to an ideal cut, clean, white diamond and there would be a giant jump in price difference.

Well, the Asha did arrive and it is breath-taking. I've compared it to my real diamonds under different lighting conditions and the Ashas hold their own. As for looking like the real thing, my 8.5mm round brilliant definitely does!

In fact, I love it so much that I ran to their website and ordered an 18kwg cathedral style band with the side stones upgraded to diamonds & an 8 x 10 Krupps centre set in double prongs. Total: $1300 approx. It will ship in 10 days or so (will be a looong 10 days!). I'll change my camera's batteries & upload a photo of my 8.5mm Asha solitaire today.

Wow!! Less could use this picture to show how close to a diamond Ashas look!!
Whoa. Comparing that diamond to Less's Asha is an insult to the Asha.

The Asha is very well cut, the diamond is not. The diamond is heavily included, the Asha is not.

The Asha is a true gem in appearance, that diamond is a poorly cut lump of crystallized carbon.

If you want to compare to see how much like a diamond the Asha looks like, and it does, put it next to one of my Crafted by Infinity diamonds. THAT would be a fair comparison. Two wonderful gems doing their best to out sparkle one another. Throw in one of my WinkCZ's and then you will have a trifecta of gems to compare!

The reason I posted a picture of THAT diamond was to show the cost comparison. For me at least cost IS an issue. Of course you would see the beauty so much more in an infinity diamond or any Ideal cut VVS1 or better diamond but the price of the diamond then goes up substantially.

I think most people would never know the difference either. I always see these beautiful rings by a jeweler displayed in canal place in a glass case by the entrance and wonder if they have real diamonds sitting in there or not. I really can't tell. Maybe one day I will go in the store and ask.

I think about how many women's rings ive admired and to tell the truth, I'd never know whether they were diamonds or sims. I worked with a girl that had a pretty marquis cut ring in yellow gold and we always talked about this girl in the office that blabbed about price of everything she had, from her watch to her engagement ring, etc. my friend there pulls me aside and goes "nobody ever knows, but my diamond is fake...." Hahaha! And this was over 15 years ago so I'm sure the quality now is so much better of sims. I had no clue hers wasn't a diamond.
