What to do

My husband and I have narrowed our stone picks down to me liking a cushion first and a round brilliant H&A second, but really I like them both equal after looking here and trying on ring after ring. My husband knows I'm a solitaire plan band kind of girl for a traditional wedding set kind of look but I'm not opposed to a eternity band for extra bling to the set. He has pretty much asked me have I made a decision on the set I want but really I have not. So he's wanting to go forth with making the purchase on a set to give to me on vacation May 25th to surprise me at his families lake house the weekend we all go to kick off the summer you could say. So do I let him make the choice or should I hold out? He said that he really wants to redo his proposal to me with the entire set as he would have done if he had the money for the ring I deserved when we first got engaged. My heart is telling me yes, to let him decide since he does know what I like, because just the thought of it makes me feel like we are just dating again and that I'm waiting on the proposal of my dreams. So what do you think I should do? I'm so stomped.

I love the romance of the situation. Since you are pretty confident he knows what you want, I would let him make the final decision. Since you sound like you will be happy either way, I think it will add that much more sentiment knowing he made the final choice.

Oh thank you MrsMike C! I thought myself that it would be very romantic for him to do this for me. He has looked at ashadiamonds with me and the betterthandiamond website as well and know the style of solitaire I even like, but I would have never thought he would be thinking about redoing our proposal after all these years at a family vacation with all his family there. He's more private in the long run, but when he said it was something he thought I would deserve I was without words to say back to him. Other then I know how much I love him. I'm really thinking about letting him take this over from here and seeing what I might get. Should I?

If you feel you will love whatever he decides on, then let him pick. But if deep down you want one over the other, I would make sure you get the one you want.

Your so right about this as well jcent. I can imagine either one on my finger. So at this point does it matter which he would pick OR would the thought of which he would pick mean more? Gosh! I would have never thought that I would be faced with this after I would fall in love with diamonds at this point in our marriage. Who would have ever thought this would be so hard to decide.

Does anyone else have anything to add to this before I give him and answer this evening. He said that I wont know anything after I give him an answer because his cousin will be doing everything from that point on from the ordering to the receiving. That I will know nothing until the ring or rings will be on my finger. Should I let him have the rings so to speak on this. I'm still wondering what to do!

so to clarify, are the options down to two stones and whether the band will be plain or an eternity? if those are the only variances, and you are happy with either and like that it would be a surprise...i say just let him decide. but like jcent said..if there's one option you like over the other...SAY SOMETHING!I was recently stuck between a round OEC stone or a oval-ish Old Mine Cut and my husband liked one more and I liked the other one more...but I was "ok" with either... until I posted on here, and it really became clear that I was ROOTING for one of them! so I had to be adamant about the stone... lol

I understand where your coming from essaince. I like both rounds and cushions so does my husband. when it comes to the set it doesn't matter if at first it has an eternity band or just a plan band, either would be find but the main focus is to let him take it all over and make the pick. Come to find out his cousin has made purchases from Ashadiamonds and Betterthandiamond before without either of use knowing so she has told him after I talked with him that she would help him in finalizing the purchase in the way of making it and having everything shipped to her so I would not find out anything at all until he would be to give me the rings. But I would be happy with either. I'm just looking I guess for a little push in letting them take all this over. Like I said I'm feeling like a youngster dating and waiting for my first ever proposal.

And just to add that when it comes to the round brilliant H&A or the cushion when they are set a 4 prong setting I don't really see that much difference anyway. So I guess they both effect me the same.

Man! I can't believe finally it's came down to this. But I think your right. I think I should at this point just turn it over to him. This way he will feel as if he has had everything to do with my new ring as he should, and that I'm just his girl waiting for the ring of my dreams. This is going to be a hard wait. I feel almost like I'm falling in love with him all over again. I know he wont disappoint. And to that his cousin has terrific taste so if she helps him I know I will be pleased.

I can't believe that I just told him to go for it!!! Can you believe it! I can't! I think he's done and on the phone with his cousin talking about the rings or ring. OH MY GOSH! Does this mean he has done and had something picked out or are they just talking strategy?

So I talked with him while we ate this evening and he wouldn't say anything other than he knows I like delicate and I told him yes he was right. I couldn't get him to say if he already had something picked out or not. He just told me that I would find out when I least expected it.

Hi everyone. I asked a million questions last night and he still wouldn't give any idea what he has in mind. He just keeps telling me that I was going to let this drive myself crazy. Which I probably will.

I love the look of an eternity band and solitaire as well, this he knows. This is really going to kill me.

Sounds like you have a real romantic kind of guy... I'm sure if he knows what you like he will deliver the ring of your dreams... Do you think he will keep the ring until your vacation or do you think he will give it to you early if he sees you are really going crazy????
