Fake Celebrity Bling?

#1
Hi Ladies,
Do you ever wonder if some celebrities are wearing fake engagement rings? I thought that Khloe Kardashian's ring looked very similar to something BTD makes. You know--the pave on the band look that BTD has.
Have you ever wondered about any of them? Just curious to see if it's just me.

I do sometimes... I think Paris Hiltons ering was fake come to find out... at least that's what I think I remember????

.... I still think Kim Kardashian's ring was fake.. their was a clip on youtube of her on Jay Leno were he tells her if you hold a CZ in a flame it will melt it... shows how little he knows...
.... so he took her ring and done it and then said look it's real cause it didn't melt the stone....

I never used to but now I think that Kim Kardashian's ring was fake. I have come to this conclusion in light of her 72 day marriage. Why buy a real one for such a short period of time. I think the whole thing was staged for publicity and ratings and fame.

I try not to pay attention to celebrities. So much of what we see is fake, a show, done for marketing or self immortalizing...even if the ring is real it means little in that regard.

*off soap box*

Besides, it's not uncommon to have a 'fake' version of a real ring for everyday wear...while the valuable one is locked safely away to be use only on special occasions.

Oh brother... a top notch jeweler that won't make a cheap looking fake? Hard to tell with the untrained eye? Good grief.

NOBODY can tell a fake unless they're a jeweler or have studied this stuff intensively. For example, 99% of people can't tell a Moissy from a Diamond - even if the cut isn't exactly right. And a cut that's correct on a CZ? The only way to tell is under a loupe, unless it's a seriously lousy CZ quality to begin with. And to be honest, there are seriously lousy diamonds too!

Not to mention, you would have to be looking at most of this stuff under a loupe. They're just trying to make her fake better than it is.

Well, if it was fake, I thought it was a Fabulous Fake. I'd take it anytime, fake or not. That's my absolute favorite cut of stone and carat weight.

I love the line of the article where they quoted someone as saying

"This isn't going to be some tacky cheap looking bauble like you would win at an arcade, it's going to be absolutely classy and top notch -- just like Kim!"

Classy and Top notch are not two words I would use to describe Kim...

I know Beyonce wears a $5000 fake when she does public appearances. If I had an 18 ct diamond, I'd be wearing a fake around big groups of people too!

What's the big deal if celebrities have "fake" rings or not? It's alright if we like sims, but tacky if a celebrity or other rich person does? It's actually very common for people to have replicas made of their very expensive jewelry. Personally I'd rather just go straight to the sim. What's the point of having a beautiful ring that's just going to sit in a safety deposit box somewhere while it's twin sim gets to have all the fun? I'd never feel comfortable wearing that much money, give me the sim any day.

My version of porn are Sotheby's Magnificent Jewels auction catalogs... I have quite a few. They always start with the smaller, less expensive pieces, and work their way towards the more special pieces at the end, ending with the ones that are truly stunning.

One of my catalogs has as the very last item, a pair of 10ct+ round diamond earrings. They ate humongous simple studs with an Omega back, D color, 10+ carats, IF clarity and they have a huge blurb on how to find a stone like this is exceptional, and to find a matched pair is truly almost a once in a lifetime thing... The lot includes the diamond earrings and an exact replica made with CZ.

iPad is weird with editing, but they are 10+ carats EACH stone... Anyway, they include the CZ pair so the owner can leave the diamonds in the vault.

I believe a lot of celebs have fake rings or replicas of their real rings. Personally If I struck it big in the lotto, I still would buy lab gemstones and I would buy some huge ASHA's.

10+ cts EACH? the poor earlobes that would have to support those earrings. even in CZ they'd be heavy!

Earrings with omega backs are not heavy on the ears, plus a carat is 0.2 gram, so 1 gram= 5 carats. I have earrings that weight about 5 grams each and still are very comfortable to wear.
