Diamonna vs MossaniteCo H&A vs Amora Gem (Soaring Hearts and Ultra) vs Forever One

And a video from Good Old Gold (GOG) comparing an AG to a diamond:

I really think you'll be happy with moissanite but I lean towards BTD's AG Eternity because of all the research they've done to ensure the best performance and cut for the material. Good luck and please update with your findings and final decision.

Jonny,

1) I have a Diamelia (formerly Diamonna) engagement ring, and a pair of Forever One stud earrings from Moissanite Company. Both are fantastic, but in my opinion the Diamelia was worth the extra cost because I find it sparklier than the F1s from MoCo. I wish now I could go back in time and save up the additional money for Diamelia studs.

2) I do not think of moissanite--whether of the Diamelia or Amora or Forever One variety--as a diamond replica or knockoff, but instead as its own gem. And it happens to be a gem that is much larger and livelier than a diamond of the same price, and a gem that does not come with the economic, environmental, and political brutality of many diamonds. I am sincerely proud of the gem I wear. For me, I see it as a diamond alternative, not a diamond replica.

Awesome, thanks for that video too. I definitely will update the thread with my findings and final decision.
Hi Jonny,

I'm curious to know your results too after seeing all 3. I have not seen the Forever 1 H&As but I hear good things about them.

With regards to the rainbow coloring, yes the Diamonna has the same rainbow sparkles that I've seen in the other Moissanite sontes (e.g. amora, forever one). However, I have see a diamond give off similar rainbow fire (usually only in sunlight) so it also depends on what kind of light you are looking at the stones under. In normal indoor lighting is where the difference seems to be most noticeable to me if you have the stone side by side to a diamond. Unless you expect people to have a side by side comparison often, it would be extremely difficult to know it's not a diamond just looking at the stone itself. I don't try to pass off my stone as a diamond, and I also have the associated income to afford a diamond. No one has ever questioned me if my stone is a real diamond or not. Most of the time I just get compliments assuming it is real and if I care to, I will actually correct them and go into a long explanation of what a Diamonna is.

Secondly, my Diamonna or Diamelia also tested as a diamond by a jeweler. Based upon what my jeweler told me, this is because what they are actually testing for is toughness to determine how they can set the stone, and from a toughness standpoint, it's close to a diamond. That does not mean that they are doing all the formal tests to truly assess whether or not it is a diamond.

Cuts of stones have undergone alot of changes recently so I wish you the best in selecting the best stone. Please let us know what you choose in the end.

Hey guys,

Thanks for your input Ada and Fiore, it's much appreciated. So far, I've received the h and a moissanite and the diamelia. Side by side, for me...The diamelia is the clear winner, under natural light and standard light bulbs...I haven't tried them under florescent lights yet, ie. Hospital or office lights. An amora just became available and I purchased it tonight... I'll follow up when it comes in and compare all three. I think I'll do a video and post it if people are interested... Thanks again for everyone's help.

I would love to see the video. If it's not too much trouble, it would be great if you could do all 3 in different lighting situations as well. One of the things that ultimately made me choose the Diamelia (Diamonna) is how it looked in very dim lighting.

Sure thing, I can definitely do that. I'm glad you mentioned the dim light...That hadn't even occurred to me. I'm hoping to have the video made and posted by mid next week.

So, turns out moisannite and co. Is extremely shady...First they claim their stones to be bigger and heavier than they really are...Turns out amora has called them out on this...For false competition and false advertising... they're also clearly deceiving their customers... in addition their certificate claims their stone is a 0 on the AGS cut scale...Which again is false advertising as AGS does not grade non-diamonds. Another example of their shadyness...I sent an email asking their return policy...Instead of answering me...20 days for loose stones, they send a link which took me to a page that said thirty days...Turns out I needed to click another link once on that page to see the actual 20 day policy for loose stones smh...And its not 20days from the day I received the shipment, but 20 days from the time they shipped it...So really an 18 day return policy. I wasn't warned about this company until after I purchased the stone. I went with them, because of the comment on here about how much a person like that company. Man do I wish I hadn't gone with them...I'll most likely be out $750 dollars now. Needless to say, I'm very angry.

Hi Fiore,
I don't know why your jeweler would tell you that their diamond tester is testing for 'toughness', but it's not correct. The standard pen style diamond tester that virtually every jeweler has does not test for toughness at all.

Rather it's testing for heat conductivity - it has two probes, one that delivers a bit of heat, the other that touches close by and registers how fast the heat conducts from the first probe. Diamond, because it is ultra hard, conducts heat rapidly and faster than most other crystals. Thus it was a way to isolate diamond from other gems like sapphire, CZ, etc.
However, Silicon Carbide family members are also extremely hard and thus also conduct heat rapidly, just like diamond. Thus, Amora, Moissanite and really any member of the Silicon Carbide family will also pass the standard diamond tester.

That's why they had to add on another test - electrical conductivity - as a way to try and differentiate Silicon Carbide members from diamond. That's the so called Moissanite tester option that a lot of diamond testers have added on. That worked for Moissanite however, Amora for some time still frequently passed those Moissanite tests. Lately however, they've refined the conductivity differences and it seems most new ones can now spot Amora from Diamond as well.

Anyway, that's what is really happening with those 'diamond' and 'moissanite' testers.

Hope that helps,
Less

Hey Jon,

Did you decide which you liked best? I am in the market for a diamelia and a c&c h&a. I haven't seen the c&c in person but saw the normal F1 and did not like the rainbow colors when it flashed at the jewelry store. I'm a little concerned about the c&c hearts and arrows. They have a setting they are going to make for me and it's amazing. I just want to see the c&c h&a before it's set. I asked the jeweler and she said she's never heard of a diamelia and it concerned me. Either way I think I am leaning towards the diamelia over the c&c. Just a little nervous. I've been creeping on comparison posts for a while now and I'm so torn! Given all of the info I've read I still haven't come to a conclusion. My boyfriend thinks I'll love the c&c h&a. I don't think I'll hate it but I just want to make sure I'm making the right decision!

Hey TMW,

Sorry I haven't posted in a while guys...My Sweet little dog was diagnosed with cancer... as a result I didn't have time to take a video of the amora vs the diamelia...and never had the opportunity to do so with the mos. and co., because of their horrible return policy.

Anyway TMW,

I had the c&c h&a in my hand and next to the diamelia and next to my mothers 2ct diamond...it clearly looked like a "fake". Now to the amora... its a quality cut stone, no doubt about it, and their customer service is top notch. I wanted to keep the amora, unfortunately it just had too much rainbow fire to simulate a diamond. The diamelia also comes along with top notch customer service...The diamelia stone with out question is the most diamond like. No one unless looking at it under a loop would be able to tell...And even then, pretty sure the only way they could tell would be the girdle and the diamelia laser inscription. I have very discerning taste and am a little ocd/crazy about details... if there is a small fleck of paint missing on the face of a watch I have to send it back for a replacement...Another example, a new pair of costa sunglasses I just got fit a little snugger than they should have...I measured and they were a 1/4" smaller in width. I ordered the priciest pair of olukai sandals and they came in with a visible glue spot, joining the sole to the upper of the sandal. My father calls me a nit picker, others say crazy haha. I gave those examples to illustrate my enjoyment of nice things and my expectations for nice looking, flawless pricey items. I would strongly urge you to not get the c&c h&a, it is not diamond like! When held next to a diamond it is abundantly apparent. If you order all three like I did, I would bet almost anything that you would choose the diamelia hands down. it's not surprising that your jeweler hasn't heard of diamelia, its a small brand owned by a small jeweler...That jeweler said he has never lost a side by side test with other diamond alternatives...And I believe him now. Like I said, they have great customer service and stand behind their products. I'm actually having the owner make me a setting now, because I liked dealing with him so much. Hope this helps. I'd be happy to answer any other questions.

Hi Jonny!

Thanks for your review! Sorry to hear about your dog! That's terrible. I hope he'll/she'll be okay!

We have decided to go with a diamelia! I read your post to him last night. I think his concerns were with being able to go to a local jeweler to have someone there in person. Amora was too rainbow sparkly, I've never seen it in person, but I've seen so many videos. I was also a little shocked at the tone of the owner on the forums on this website as well. I found the diamelia very recently, but was blown away right away... there was something about it.

Going to the jewelry store was not a lost cause after all. I now know what I want in a setting and I've never ever seen it anywhere. So I'm working on communicating that. The jeweler ordered the c&c stones F1 and F1 h&a to see which I liked best. That was great of them, but I feel like they were both actually too rainbow sparkly. The c&c looked too perfect, but not in a good way! I agree with you it looked fake. They were the first c&c sellers in the Dallas area so they are so behind c&c all the way and could say nothing bad about the product. Which is great, but not for me. I am super detailed oriented and have very specific likes (read as picky lol) also I want to be super involved or made aware in every step of the progress. Lol they even told me they wouldn't send pics of the setting I'd have to come in. Um, okay. Yay for customer service!

I am really excited about the diamelia. I looked for and researched diamonds for 3 months to find the perfect one (or type). Then I kept looking to make sure I was doing the right thing and that the pricing was competitive. The inventory disappeared so fast though. It was freaking me out! Every stone I save for my soon to be fiancé to purchase disappeared within a days and that's a horrible feeling and it's a terrible environment for buying, great for sellers though. I was already cringing about the diamond price tag because while we are comfortable (and I am not buying the stone/ring) I didn't see why we would spend that much for what I wanted (I also have expensive tastes). He is willing to get whatever I want. If I switch back to a diamond he's okay with that, but I don't want one now. Maybe in 10 years and a bigger one than the size of the diamelia I get now (we are going with a 7.5..saw an 8mm and I thought it was too big especially with the setting I want), but I don't want to have the desire for a diamond now. I want to love what I get! Definitely want it to pass, I don't want to have discussions about it lol so it great to know that all of the reviews are saying that it looks like a diamond! You're review was very helpful and I look forward to working with Ron and his team. Best of luck and congrats on finding a ring!

Thanks Johnny and TMW for your reviews. I am very much like you both in that I am OCD and detail oriented to a fault. Earlier this year we chose to go with a custom 1.72 carat H SI2 diamond engagement ring after returning 2 Amora gems due to the crazy rainbow flashes. I really wanted to WANT the Amora Gem. The first one was an E or F color and the other was an H and neither were diamond like at all to me. I have seen several moissy's set in erings and the chunky cuts and rainbow flashes were just too much. Every sim looked like a disco ball to me. I couldn't get past it. Most CZ looked flat and had no sparkle and they normally will not hold up to daily wear. I ended up really turned off of all diamond sims and all I wanted was a "real" diamond. Luckily we had the financial means and I simply love my ring, she sparkles like I've always dreamed a diamond should. I couldn't be happier. Now am looking at buying 3-4 carat diamond stud earrings before the end of the year and you can imagine the cost of those. I haven't even told my FI yet he's going to have a heart attack lol and here I am back again on these boards trying to find a sim that I will be happy with and one the FI will be happy with the price. Thanks to your reviews (you both saved me tons of time in research TY) I think diamelia earrings maybe in my near future. Of course I will do some further research on my own (I can't control myself lol) but you both gave me a really good jump start. Please post pics of your beautiful erings when they are set!!

We ended up purchasing a 7.5 mm F VVS1 today and we will likely send back to be set just want to see it first. Was trying to decide between E and F.

@HeyNursie those earrings sound awesome! congrats on your engagement! Hope the FI agrees I'm sure he'll be happy with the price tag in comparison:) We were all over the place with diamond sizing 1.93 J color then to 1.65 H or G I think we found a happy medium lol

@Jonny37 what color did you get? Did you get a custom setting how long of a time frame did he quote you?

I am getting a custom setting... platnium with milgrain work...I'm/ Ron and I haha are still deciding on what width I want...2mm, 2.2, or 2.5...He's already drawn up a 2mm setting for me and we both thought the milgrain made the band look a little thin...And my girlfriend has thicker fingers...So still deciding. What setting are you going with?

I got an f vvs2 stone, which looks great, I didn't want it to be "too perfect"...That said, I might order some better color and clarity stones to compare...
