HI all,
I'm very happy to announce that we've hit a new record of listings on the bistro - over 2,200 rings for the first time ever! Seeing a lot of items from rings, H&A diamond stud earrings, bands, brooches, purses, etc. so very happy to see the continuing growth.

That said - since we are seeing a lot of positive things happening - what are your most pressing criticisms and requests for improvements for the bistro?
Some things we have planned are below, but if you have more ideas, suggestions, complaints, etc. please post below!

Planned:
1 - fix Facebook login so you can just login with FB account if you desire instead of making a new one.
2 - site still loads a bit slow on homepage (not sure why, we are on a fast server) but needs to be faster
3 - larger thumbnails for easier viewing

But what are your suggestions/criticisms, recommendations, etc? :)
Best regards,
Less

HI LESS! You know - I have gotten away from listing here because the photo sizing issue is always frustrating. I wish the photo upload would auto adjust the photo size so that we would not need to. (Like on ebay). I know this has been a frustration for many as I have resized photos for members here so that they could list. Still, since the sizing issue is a concern - I can’t just photo and list from my ipad. If I snap the photo while within the sell your item area - the photo is too large. So I must email the photos to myself so that I can edit them on my Laptop. Forgive me for the long winded post.

Hi FloweringEarth - this is a fantastic improvement. Thanks for the feedback - we already have all the resizing code from our PicPolish.com work so just need to integrate it with the server. Hopefully about a week and we'll make it live.
Thanks again for the feedback, this is tremendously helpful!
I'll post once it's up and running so everyone can try it out.
Best regards,

Hi FloweringEarth - please give it a try.
We've changed it to allow photos up to 12MB per photo and then we'll auto resize down to 1200 pixels max (about 1MB on average).
So that should let people just photo and upload vs before being blocked.
Thanks again for the feedback!

Recently, I tried to upload photos to a listing with the same size issue. I was able to snap a photo from within the listing - using my ipad - that seemed to work. But, I could not upload existing photos - just as before it would bark too large. *cries*. I have also seen other new listings that state “email me for photos as I can’t upload them”

Hi FloweringEarth,
Can you check what the size was of the photos that didn't work? It will accept up to 12MB per image.
However, it's possible you are also hitting a different issue - the system right now doesn't accept ".jpeg" but only ".jpg". A lot of apple products like to use .jpeg so we are planning to fix that, but that may be the real issue here.
If you can check and let us know that would be appreciated - basically what size failed and what file type was - .jpeg or .jpg?

Thanks!

Hi there. I checked and the photos I was trying to upload were .jpg. *try as I may I cannot figure out how, on my ipad pro, to see the picture size (whereas on my laptop it says what the size is). The error message is always the same - too large. That said - I can, with my ipad, while within the create listing area, click on add photo - take picture with my ipad....and it will accept the photo I take right then while within the listing screen. In the past, I could not do that. It just won’t use my original photos that were also taken with my ipad.

Hi FloweringEarth,
Thanks for the update and feedback! I'm going to borrow my daughters Ipad later today and try to make a listing to figure this out. so if you see a listing for a friendship bracelet, you'll know why it's out there lol.

Hi! I haven’t been able to access the site for a couple of days now. For the first few days, the headers and everything was in a different language. And showed no content or pictures.

As far as feedback on the marketplace. I’ve always wished there were filters. For example, filter by ring size or metal etc... That would be great!

Same thing for me! This is across all my devices (Apple/Mac). I used by husband's PC that didn't have any cookies/cache files from DB, and it also showed the odd site. I even went to a computer store and loaded DB on a machine there that was different than our ISP, just in case it was a weird ISP redirect. The machine at the computer store also pointed to the odd page.

Here's a screen shot of the URL and the page that displays:

Hi Elf and Cricketgrrl,
Sorry about this and thanks for posting the issue!
We have a new developer helping out and he had rerouted things to this basic template to track what was routing where on our server...he thought he had reverted it. It's fixed now if you type in from a web browser - unfortunately links from talk.jewelry to bistro are still broken (b/c they live on same web server).
Trying to fix that now but typing directly into your browser should load up bistro properly now! (DiamondBistro.com: Dedicated Jewelry Classifieds, Buy and Sell New and Used Jewelry )

Everything should be resolved at this point! :)
I’ve tried on multiple devices and I get the same odd redirect....even hubby did. If I use the link you posted...it works. But if I enter it manually ...nope....and I cleared my history- and used other devices. I thought was still down until I went to betterthandiamond.com and ck’d message boards and found this info here.
