I have been comparing these two pears that I just received. One is a 10x7 (2ct) and the other is a 10x8 (2.5ct). The 2ct is longer and slimmer, more of a traditional pear shape. The 2.5ct is quite chubby, more like a pudgy tear drop shape. They are both extremely sparkly, but the 2.5 sparkles a bit more and has less of a visible bowtie than the smaller one does. I am trying to decide which one to have set in the beautiful platinum setting that I bought here on the forum. They are both beautiful though. Should I go fat or skinny [IMG]???? I really like the 2ct because of the shape, but the 2.5ct seems better cut to me. Sigh...what a dilemma, huh?? [IMG]

2ct on the left, 2.5ct on the right.

Oh, um....well remember that nice platinum setting that you were drooling over? Um, well it would be that one!! The pretty Somos Creations one that ohiogal had. Yup, I'm the one who snatched it up to spare you the agony [IMG]!!

Trisha does that setting have the possibility of the "V" prong, that would lengthen the chubby pear.

Okay looked at the pictures closer, I would vote the 2ct. looks like the chubby one may need a wider band for a better balance.

Trisha, I'm not sure if it's the pics, my eyes or my pickiness...the 2 ct. seems a bit crooked in the cut, like it veers slightly to one side between the middle of the stone and the tip and the chubby one (which I usually prefer in pears) looks almost oval, not quite enough definition between the middle of the stone and the tip. Am I seeing things that aren't there?

Well....... I prefer a chubby pear myself, BUT.. that chubby one seems to have lost his "tip". [IMG] It really does look more like an oval except when you get up close to it. The smaller one looks like a definite pear. I think if I had to choose between these two exact stones, I would do the 2ct one just because it looks more like an actual pear. If you want a larger one, can you request a different stone?

I could just order a new stone from Wink...the 2ct came with the ring setting and the 2.5ct was from Kailyn. I was hoping to use one of them so I didn't have to order one.

Trisha, what setting did the 2ct one come in? Did you buy that one here?

If you like one of them, then you should go for it. But if you're on the fence, then maybe trying a different one would give you a better choice. Just depends on what you like. [IMG]
